Part of the Pervasive Media Studio's 10th Birthday celebrations on Sat 17 Feb. More info about all the FREE events taking place on the day here - there will be lots to see and do throughout the afternoon: https://www.watershed.co.uk/whatson/season/431/pervasive-media-studio-10th-birthday

Includes the premiere of I’m Bitter about Glitter by Liz Clarke and Felix Council

Bring the whole family and join performer and Pervasive Media Studio resident Tom Marshman and all his friends from Beacons, Icons and Dykons as they share their non-binary gender heroes and heroines of kids TV from the 70’s and 80’s. Artists include Nook and Cranny, Barbara Brownskirt and Tim Redfern AKA Timberlina who celebrate the role models in the TV shows that help them to not live up to any stereotype, but let them be their queer selves. This FREE afternoon of Queer Kids TV celebrates forgotten television shows that challenge stereotypes and offer kids other lifestyle options that sit outside of the binary.

We'll be featuring a range of classic children's TV - details of which we will announce shortly.

The afternoon culminates with the premiere of the 10-minute cabaret piece I’m Bitter About Glitter, a short performance by Liz Clarke (aged 42) and Felix Council (aged 9) which combines extravagant fantasy and the reality of a mother and child making a piece of work together. Jam-packed with wild tales, glamour, grit and sparkles, expect a joy-filled adventure with a message of hope for the future.

This event is most suitable for families with children aged 6 or over, although everyone is welcome to attend!

I’m Bitter About Glitter has been commissioned by Beacons, Icons and Dykons for their family edition of the queer film and performance platform. Supported by Arts Council England and directed by Lucy Cassidy.

Tickets are FREE - you must book in advance. Please collect your tickets at least 20 minutes before the start of the performance - any tickets not collected by this time will be released. Book tickets here: https://www.watershed.co.uk/whatson/8760/beacons-icons-dykons-presents-queer-kids-tv/
